FOUNDED IN 1990 IN THE PICO/UNION NEIGHBORHOOD OF LOS ANGELES…

The Bread of Life Mission (BOLM) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization established in Los Angeles on December 1, 1990. BOLM was originally created as a response to the homeless crisis in Los Angeles. Quickly, the large Pico-Union home that was purchased by BOLM was filled with people who were formerly living on the streets of Los Angeles. A community of people from all walks of life was formed. Whether the community member was mentally ill or handicapped, everyone chipped in to serve each other as well as the greater community to provide food, shelter, and clothing to those in need.

Today, BOLM is responding to community concerns in new ways. During the Covid crisis, BOLM provided free tutoring for kids who were not able to attend school in person. In addition, BOLM provided critical financial assistance to neighborhood families who were hit hard by the economic crisis but were unable to receive government aid. Today, We are also paying close attention to the Immigration Crisis and responding by looking into the root causes of this crisis. We are learning about ways to enhance life in one village in Guatemala in order to eventually provide economic and societal resources that can foster and sustain healthy and vibrant life!
